The Oversimplification barrier to getting an Enterprise to mature its Transformation capability is that many Enterprises have a compulsion to reduce things to the point of uselessness.

In general (in the Transformation Capability), people have the drive to want to do the absolute minimum. And that basic feeling is cultured by Management’s insatiable appetite for quick wins and low hanging fruit. That’s not necessarily a bad thing. Architects do it all the time - reducing things to the simplest and most fundamentally important parts. The problem is, when you reduce things to the minimum and still people ask, “Hmmm - OK - I understand, but can’t we just do something smaller?”
